Hertford Controls supply high quality electrical components used in arduous conditions and safety related applications. Their primary area of competence is DC Switchgear where their ranges of snap action switches, contactors and waterproof connectors offer the highest levels of reliability, performance and safety. The company exhibited at Railtex in February 2007, the UK’s most important rail industry show. A bi-annual show, Railtex was held this year at Excel Exhibition Centre in London’s Docklands.
Hertford Controls had recently re-branded and wanted to promote their new, more professional and modern look but also wanted to gain new customers and show existing customers that they are still strong in the electrical components industry. The exhibition stand needed to have a railway related theme with a clean, immediate impact and the product groups needed to be well displayed so they could be quickly identified.
London Display was able to demonstrate its exhibition design expertise to Hertford Controls through examples of previous stand designs in their portfolio. Being based in London and very close to the Excel Exhibition Centre was also a bonus and meant that they were on hand throughout the build up and dismantling of the show. Hertford Controls needed to work with an exhibition contractor that was helpful and informative who would give them time and advice to really get the most from their show experience. London Display was able to do just that, advising them on whether to hire or buy their stand, how to create impactful graphic design, how to attract visitors to the stand and how to plan their exhibition to avoid hassle and stress.
Hertford Controls decided to hire their exhibition stand from London Display because they do not attend enough exhibitions to warrant purchasing it. Graphics were designed and purchased and can be used for future events. The stand was positioned on a corner site with 2 sides open to the aisles, providing an opportunity for Hertford Controls to really take advantage of visitor flow. The exhibition stand design maximized the position by using the two closed walls for high impact, well-lit graphics. A display case placed on the outer corner of the stand displayed the companies product components in easy reach for visitors to quickly identify what the company offered. A plasma screen presenting the products was also used to attract the attention of visitors and the company used literature and promotional give-aways to interact with visitors and passers-by.
Participation in the show presented Hertford Controls with many identifiable business opportunities. Raising their profile is hard to quantify but they won their biggest contract ever in June 2007 from an existing customer who visited them at the show.
